Edit
We are living in the greatest time for television and the almighty Internet has made it possible to waste our lives watching these shows all at once. Here, I have what I think are the top ten shows to binge watch! Now this may look like a list of my favorite shows, which in a way it is, but there are some that would be missing if that were the case. For example, Flash and Gotham are not listed because there are only four episodes available to stream. So here it is. Lock yourself in a room, get a bunch of blankets, and binge away.
10. How I Met Your Mother
Ted Mosby tells the story of finding his soul mate to his kids through flashbacks. This show has something for everyone. It can be romantic, but also hilarious. When the show ended I had seen a few episodes here and there so I decided to binge watch it to see every episode. I did no regret it, I highly recommend watching all 208 episodes and getting the full story of how Ted met their mother.
Netflix: 1-9
9. Supernatural
Following two brothers going hunting for the supernatural. This show not only has a great cast but perfect writing. In it's ten seasons it has covered everything, even having an episode where they are transported to an alternate universe and are on a television show called "Supernatural". It has come so far and has an amazing fanbase, they literally have a gif for everything.
Netflix: Seasons 1-9 Hulu: Season 10 Episodes 14-19
8. The Walking Dead
Taking place during the zombie apocalypse, this show follows Rick and his group surviving not only zombies, but the harsh world around them. The show is based off the comics by Robert Kirkman, which I recommend reading as well. This is my favorite interpretation of the zombie apocalypse because it's real and brutal without being over the top.
Netflix: Seasons 1-4
7. Firefly
Created by Joss Whedon, this show has been described as a space western. It follows the ship Serenity and it's crew as they fight the Alliance and Reavers while smuggling a child prodigy. The show only goes for a season and was shut down way before it should have been, so a lot of loose ends aren't tied up. They made a movie called Serenity that was supposed to help this, but it only touched on a few key points. I think I speak for everyone when I say, Bring Back Firefly!
Netflix: Season 1 Hulu: Season 1 Amazon: Season 1
6. Attack on Titan
An anime that follows Eren and his comrades trying to stop the massive Titans from destroying the human race. If you are not into anime, this is an excellent one to start with. It is subbed which means it's in Japanese and has English subtitles, but it doesn't make it difficult to watch. I actually prefer watching subbed over dubbed when it comes to Anime. This show is animated, but still a bit gruesome with some amazing twists and turns that will keep you intrigued the entire series.
Netflix: Season 1 Hulu: Season 1
5. Game of Thrones
Adapted from the books by George R.R. Martin, Game of Thrones is set in the fictional lands of Westros & Essos. The story is all about murder, sex, and who gets the throne to rule the seven kingdoms. This dark and gritty series has surprises at every corner and will leave you wondering who's really on which side of this civil war to gain the throne. Honestly, watch this show for the amazing character stories, gruesome deaths, and boobs.
HBO Go: Season 1-5
4. Sherlock
Following Sherlock Holmes (duh) and Watson, this is a modernized take on the worlds greatest detective. Sherlock is texting, Watson is a blogger, and Moriarty looks good in a crown. This show is absolutely brilliant. I love the witty remarks, being able to see Sherlocks thought process while he is assessing, and Benedict Cumberbatch. This is a show you do not want to skip over, it's only three seasons each with three hour long episodes. But beware, once you're caught up you'll want more and Moffat hasn't revealed when the next season will be.
Netflix: Seasons 1-3
3. Arrow
Based on the comic book character, Green Arrow, this show follows Oliver Queen and his story in becoming the vigilante Arrow. Now, the action scenes are fun but what really makes this show are, of course the nods to the comics, but also Ollie's team. One of my favorite characters in any television show is Felicity Smoak, the Arrows tech lady, who adds humor and humanity to the show in the most adorable way. If you're not into comics or action shows watch this for Stephen Amell fighting shirtless or Emily Bett Rickards being awkwardly sexy in her dresses.
Netflix: Seasons 1 & 2 Hulu: Season 3 Episodes 15-20
2. Doctor Who
Doctor Who is hands down my favorite show. I have seen and obsessed over each episode at least three times, so listen to me when I say watch this. You don't have to watch the old Who. Just the ones that started in 2005. Doctor Who is about a time lord, called the Doctor, that travels through time and space usually with a companion and saves worlds or even whole universes. He can regenerate to cheat death, so we get (in the new who) four different actors who play the same man, but with completely different characteristics. Every once in awhile we get a new companion and it's like a whole new show with the same basis. Doctor Who never gets boring when there's always a new adventure or conflict to keep us obsessed.
Netflix: Seasons 1-7 Hulu: Season 1-7
1. Daredevil
The Netflix original based on the Marvel character Daredevil came out earlier this month and has taken over as one of the best television shows. Matt Murdock, living in Hells Kitchen, was blinded at a young age and as he grows up he trains to be a vigilante using his other senses to see. All three of us here at The Zero League binged and did a season review that was released today so go have a listen. The reason I put this as number one is that Netflix released the entire season at once making all 13 episodes easy to binge watch right off the bat.
Netflix: Season 1
